This month we interview our very own beauty queen with a heart of gold, Cindy Nell Roberts. Model turned businesswoman, proud mum and ambassador for women, Cindy is one busy lady with a drive and passion to make a mark in all spheres of her life.
Post hard lockdown, are there some shifts in your habits and ways of thinking that you’d like to implement into your life now for good?
Definitely. It brought me so many gifts. I developed a love for spinning, which has become an integral part of my life now. I’ve had a major shift into a healthier lifestyle. I’ve realised again the value of quality family time and the importance of regular digital detoxes.
What are some of the rituals that your family partake in to keep things fun?
To begin with, I’ve decided to decline 9/10 requests I get in my capacity as a celebrity to free up more time to be present with my family and focus more on what brings me joy. I make sure that we have sit-down dinners and that I drop my children off at school at least twice a week. My husband and I try to have one afternoon of quality time with the children a week and we’ve also reinstated date night.
What is one of your favourite mottos?
Growth requires rest. Choose how you spend your time wisely. Putting in the hours is what sets you apart. For me, I’m on a big holistic journey for peace and joy in my life so I make time for meditation, see a life coach, and go on regular retreats.
What would you still like to achieve this year?
Lots! I would like to continue improving my body, open three more Ace Models Franchises, roll out some more life skills development programs for my charitable foundation ‘Women for Women’ and enjoy an amazing Summer holiday on our family farm. We’re also developing a new brand in Cosmetix which we’re still hoping to launch internally.
How has coming from a military family helped you in life?
Growing up, my dad was very strict and there were very few grey areas in life. We were expected to achieve academically, no boys were allowed around until a certain age, we had to make our bed and help to set the table. Those little habits and routines have stood me in good stead in life. My father taught us how to be disciplined and the power of consistent, hard work.
What are your top three age-defying tips?
I drink my Collagen Lift every day, put sun block on every morning and I make sure I live holistically by eating well, drinking enough water, managing stress and getting enough sleep.
What has been your biggest challenge in life so far?
I’ve dealt with loss and heartbreak, business and health problems. There hasn’t been one challenge that’s stood out for me. I have key mentors to talk to when I’m really struggling and have learnt that problems only carry the amount of weight you allow them to. I’m really finding peace and inspiration from knowing God is in control of my life.
