Did you know that your skin is the biggest organ in your body and now that winter is here, it’s time to take extra care of it. The dry winter air can often damage the skin so we are sharing 5 tips that you can use at home to keep your skin healthy and glowing this winter.
1.Use a Hydrating Mask at night
Overnight masks are a game-changer because instead of getting the benefits of a mask for 20 minutes, overnight masks are designed to give you long lasting benefits. Hydrating the skin is one of the key steps to help keep your skin glowing in winter.
Apply the mask before you go to bed and wash it off in the morning.
2.Drink plenty of water
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
One of the main issues people find with their skin in winter is that it dries out quicker than normal and by drinking plenty of water, you can hydrate your skin from the inside out. Good hydration will also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
3.A humidifier is your skin’s best friend
Adding a humidifier to your bedroom will help put moisture back into the air which allows the air around you to put more moisture into your skin at the same time. You wake up feeling like your skin is glowing the same way as it did in summer.
4.Add oils to your daily routine
There are thousands of essential oils for you to choose from, and they all have unique benefits. Adding certain oils to your skincare routine will help you lock in moisture and keep your skin glowing throughout winter.
You can add oils such as:
- Vitamin E Oil– For added moisture
- Marula Oil– This oil contains linoleic acid, a building block for ceramides which is one of the skin’s main moisturising elements. It can also help maintain skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis and helps promote elasticity in your skin.
- Rosehip Oil- This oil is packed with antioxidants and has anti-ageing properties.
5.Wash your face with lukewarm water
Hot water might feel great in winter but it can dry out your skin even more and can cause flaking. Dermatologists suggest that you should rather take lukewarm showers and baths to help prevent your skin from flaking and drying out.
Your skin plays a vital role in keeping you healthy. Not only does it keep everything in, but it also provides an airtight, watertight, flexible barrier between the outside world and your organs. It helps to regulate your temperature and it plays a huge role in your body’s immune defence.
This winter, you can keep that healthy glowing skin hydrated and healthy by incorporating these 5 easy steps into your everyday skincare routine.
