Mother and daughter partnership, Michele and Amber Muller, are the passionate, proud owners of Delish Restaurant in beautiful Hout Bay. Amber is a chef by profession. She obtained her Grand Diploma from the well-known Silwood School of Cooking. Michele has many years of experience in business and customer relations.
Amber joined Delish as their executive chef in 2017. She was inspired to take the business forward under her wing when she saw the potential to expand, thus beginning her entrepreneurial journey. Amber and Michele purchased the business four years ago and set about creating a warm, welcoming environment where they serve simple yet stylish food using fresh, wholesome ingredients with plenty of healthy options for breakfast and lunch. Their wide offering includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices and other delicious hearty meals too. All their food is prepared with great love, care, and skill, and served with pride.
This dynamic duo define success as having a happy team, happy customers, and a good reputation in the community. They feel that creating an atmosphere where people can come together, relax, and enjoy good food and service whilst always maintaining a culture of excellence, sound ethics, and respect is paramount to their success too.
Although it sounds like a dream to be one’s “own boss”, it is a lot of hard work and rather stressful, especially in the restaurant industry, and especially of late with this dreaded pandemic. However, with the love and support of loyal customers, the strength and desire to keep going, and by adopting a flexible and evolving approach, they have managed to keep the wheels in motion.
There are many benefits to being one’s own boss provided there is the will to work hard, be patient, diligent, and maintain a tough resolve. Flexibility, open-mindedness, the ability to multi-task, and resourcefulness all help too! It is important to stick to one’s plan and vision, whilst always leaving “room for improvement” and not getting distracted by unsolicited advice from others. They advocate strongly for a spirit of giving and abundance.
