Just launched in Hout Bay, we wanted to find out what all the buzz is about.
What was the inspiration behind The Beach Bar?
We have long believed that the location suited a more credible dining experience and when Covid happened, it created the ideal opportunity to build a beachfront bar.
What type of atmosphere are you trying to create?
A relaxed atmosphere with a curated music experience to match the décor, crowd and environment.
Describe your ideal guest experience?
Attentive but not invasive servicehere guests take in the views and immerse themselves in the music and our offering.
What food can patrons expect to be served?
Our food is indulgent whilst being unpretentious. Chef Jayson Wicomb, from the stables of George Jardine and Eric Bulpit, applies his craft to produce a beautifully balanced menu. Snacks, small plates, and caféstyle dishes are on offer for the discerning diner enjoying cocktails and bubbles. Think Tuna Tataki or Tempura Prawns whilst sipping the finest MCC at sundowners. The comfort food section accommodates the heartier appetite: Philly Cheese Steak Baguette, Lobster Roll, or a grass fed Beef Burger hit the mark here. The beautifully crafted desserts are light and elegant and the perfect way to round off a superb dining experience.
What makes a visit to The Beach Bar so special?
The deck overlooking the ocean, the cocktails, the music and the vibe. Put simply, The Beach Bar is all about the highest quality food and beverage offering in the most beautiful setting delivered with friendly and efficient service in a super vibey foot-tapping atmosphere!
Describe the drinks offering.
The carefully curated wine list pairs beautifully with the elegant food on offer. It features cultivars from mostly small boutique farms, offering the diner a unique and interesting wine experience.
The world class cocktail selection is constantly evolving. The creative juices never stop flowing with the likes of Tinashe Motsi (ex Orphanage) and Josh Lindsay (ex Lucky Shaker and The Art of Duplicity). The theme is fun and playful with constant reminders of the beach and Summer fun.
“Back When I Was A Kid” and “Slops And Short Shorts” bring rums, gins, tropical fruits and coconut into the mix. More serious offerings like “Twisted Sour”, “The Singleberry” and “Spaghetti Western” bring a more serious side to the cocktail experience showing off premium spirits like Bulleit Bourbon and Singleton single malt scotch whisky. This cocktail experience is a journey of flavours not to be missed.
What’s for breakfast?
The Beach Bar has an incredible breakfast offering too. The best Benny in the Bay by far is enjoyed with either salmon, bacon, ham, or mushrooms smothered in velvety hollandaise! Vegan French Toast, Avo Smash, and Sweet Potato Rostis add to this beautiful breakfast offering. Wanderlust coffee cared for by masterful baristas, fresh pressed juices, and healthy smoothies are available in the restaurant or as a grab and go option.
The overall experience at The Beach Bar is elegant and relaxed delivering a world class food and beverage offering in one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
